Privacy Policy

1. About Nerix

Nerix is a Chrome extension that helps people communicate more clearly. You paste a message you have received, optionally provide context, choose a communication goal, and Nerix generates reply options for you to choose from.

This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use the Nerix extension and the Nerix website at getnerix.com, and how that information is handled.

2. Information We Process

Depending on how you use Nerix, the following types of information may be processed:

• Message content — the message you manually paste into the Nerix extension when requesting a reply.
• Optional context — any additional context you choose to provide before generating a reply.
• Selected communication goal — the mode you choose (for example, Push back, Sound confident or Make concise).
• Anonymous installation ID — a randomly generated identifier stored locally in the extension to manage usage limits and subscription status. See Section 3 for details.
• Usage and subscription data — daily usage count, plan type, and subscription identifiers. See Section 3 for details.
• Website form submissions — your name, email address and any message or feedback you voluntarily submit through the Nerix website.
• Analytics data — standard usage information collected when you visit the Nerix website.
• Payment information — if you subscribe to Nerix Plus, payment details are handled by Stripe.

Nerix does not automatically read your clipboard, does not track your browsing history, does not monitor which websites you visit, does not read page content automatically, and does not track keystrokes. You manually paste the message you want help replying to.

Clipboard access is used only when you actively click a Copy button on a generated reply.

3. Extension Storage: Anonymous Installation ID and Usage Data

When you install the Nerix Chrome extension, it creates an anonymous installation identifier and stores it locally in chrome.storage.local on your device. This identifier is a randomly generated value and is not linked to your name, email address or any directly identifying information.

This installation ID is used to:

• Distinguish one extension installation from another.
• Maintain your daily usage count and enforce usage limits.
• Retrieve your current plan status (Free or Nerix Plus).
• Associate a Nerix Plus checkout with the correct extension installation.

Nerix may store the following information in Supabase associated with your anonymous installation ID:

• Anonymous installation ID
• Current plan (Free or Plus)
• Daily usage count and usage date
• Stripe customer ID (if you subscribe to Nerix Plus)
• Stripe subscription ID (if you subscribe to Nerix Plus)

This information is retained as necessary to operate usage limits, manage subscriptions, and maintain service integrity.

4. How Message Content Is Used

When you generate a reply using the Nerix extension, the message you pasted, your optional context and your selected communication goal are securely transmitted to Nerix's backend hosted on Render, and then sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, solely for the purpose of generating the requested replies.

Nerix does not intentionally store pasted message content or generated replies in its own application database as part of the normal reply-generation flow.

Please note that Anthropic processes your message in order to generate a response. For information on how Anthropic handles data, please refer to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

5. Website Forms

If you submit your name, email address or a message through the Nerix website — for example, to join the early access list or submit a feature request — that information may be stored in Supabase and used to send you a notification or follow-up email via Resend.

We will only contact you in connection with your submission and will not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

6. Analytics

The Nerix website uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site. This may include information such as pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and interaction events.

This data is used to improve the website. Google Analytics has its own privacy practices, which you can review at policies.google.com/privacy.

7. Payments

Payments for Nerix Plus subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Nerix does not directly handle or store full payment card details. Stripe may collect billing, payment and contact information in accordance with Stripe's Privacy Policy.

8. Third-Party Service Providers

Nerix shares information with third-party service providers only as necessary to provide its functionality, process payments, operate the service, or fulfil user-requested actions. Nerix does not sell personal data.

Current service providers include:

• Anthropic — AI reply generation. Message content, optional context and selected mode are sent to Anthropic's API to produce replies.
• Render — backend API hosting.
• Supabase — storage for anonymous installation/usage/subscription records and website form submissions.
• Stripe — subscription payment processing and management.
• Resend — transactional and notification email delivery.
• Vercel — website hosting and delivery.
• Google Analytics — website usage analytics.
• Google Fonts — font delivery for the Nerix website.

Each of these providers operates under its own privacy policy and data handling practices.

9. Data Retention

• Pasted message content and generated replies are not intentionally stored in Nerix's own database during normal reply generation.
• Anonymous usage and subscription records may be retained as necessary to operate usage limits, manage subscriptions, prevent misuse, and meet accounting or legal requirements.
• Website form submissions may be retained in Supabase where needed to respond to users.
• Email data passed through Resend may be retained according to Resend's own policies.
• Analytics data may be retained according to Google Analytics configuration and policies.
• Infrastructure providers such as Render and Vercel may retain standard operational logs for a limited period.

10. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information processed through Nerix. Data transmitted between the extension, our backend and third-party providers is sent over encrypted connections.

However, no system is completely free of risk. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of information transmitted over the internet.

11. Your Choices and Rights

You may contact us to:

• Ask what personal information Nerix holds about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Request deletion of your personal information where applicable.
• Ask any questions about how your information is handled.

12. Children

Nerix is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@getnerix.com.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available at getnerix.com/privacy. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last updated.
